Tomorrow (Saturday) a charity time trial with a twist will raise money for the Joey Dunlop Foundation.

Sixteen regulars of Douglas’s Woodbourne Hotel pub are challenging themselves to beat John McGuinness’s best six laps of the TT course. Their aim is to complete one lap in the karaoke bus, stopping at the eight pubs on the course and having a Guinness in each in under one hour 45 minutes and 10 seconds.

The group have planned ahead with landlords so that all drinks will be poured and ready for a quick stop before heading to the next pub. A ’dry run’ has indicated that the first pub, the Railway Inn in Union Mills, can be reached six minutes after leaving the start line, before heading on to the Crosby, The Mitre in Kirk Michael, The Raven in Ballaugh, the Sulby Glen Hotel, the Ginger Hall in Sulby, the Swan in Ramsey, and then the final stop at the Creg-Ny-Baa in one hour 30 minutes.

Jerry Carter, from Carters Advocates, which is sponsoring the event, said: ’We are delighted to be associated with something that is not only fun and a little left field but most importantly raises money for a really worthy cause.

’Providing holidays to disabled individuals is so important and with (island) borders closed and no visitors, the foundation still needs to maintain and upkeep the facility so every penny raised will help.’
