One of the island’s heaviest bands are set to stamp their mark on the world after securing a worldwide publishing deal.

Local heavy rock band Man In The Woods have announced that they have been picked by the Argonauta record label, and are preparing to release their debut album next year.

The Peel-based band, who describe their sound as ’hard rocking, fuzz heavy, stoner, desert, space sludge’, typified by solid, groove-heavy bass lines and sonically -heavy, down-tuned guitars announced the news, along with the release of their first single on the label, ’Icarus Landing’, last week.

Speaking after signing the band, the Italian-based Argonauta Records owner, Gero Lucisano said: ’Massive riffage, and a volcanic sound, you can’t really stay insensible to Man In The Woods songs.

’I can definitely say it took me only a second to be overwhelmed by their hammering grooves and I am sure you will feel the same with their forthcoming full length.

’They are full of fire and attitude, and surely a great addition to our roster!’

Formed in 2016, Man In The Woods, led by bassist and singer Marc Vincent, guitarists James Oxtoby and David Murray, with Christian Hardman on drums, have diligently rehearsed and recorded over the years, occupying a pretty niche market on the island, while pushing themselves over seas.

They released their first self-produced EP, ’Badlands Part One’ in 2018 and have been working on the follow up, which was to have been a five track EP, Badlands Part Two. They will now combine the two and release it as a full album to an international audience.

’We are all really stoked about it and it is a massive deal for us,’ said Marc.

’It means a lot to us that someone has not only shown interest in us, but has put a lot of faith in us to make us this offer.

’We set out to contact certain record labels that we felt would be good for us and would appreciate our sound. Argonauta came back very quickly, said they liked our music and offered us a worldwide publishing deal that will get us into North America, Europe and the UK.

’We’ve been added to their roster of bands and our album will come out eventually in 2022.

’It is great to work with a label who really understands that specific genre and understands the music we are writing.’

The band are set to release their second single early next year and are also pushing to rebuilding their gig schedule in the UK.

’We are going to organise our own UK gigs for next year and get to as many as we can, hopefully a few more festivals too.

’We were beginning to make tracks in the UK and were starting to play a few gigs across, with festival dates lined up, but that all came to an end with the lockdown.

’It will be great to back to that, and also to get some more local gigs lined up too.’
