The ManxSPCA has found a forever home for a pet dog who had suffered neglect at the hands of his owner.
Snowy was found in the summer of 2016 with 60% of his fur missing and infections, which made it painful for him to walk.
Staying with the ManxSPCA for 14 months after his rescue, the dog was restored to his full health.
A charity spokesman said: ’He needed intensive medical treatment as well as lots of daily TLC from staff and volunteers.’
During this time, 51-year-old Ross Ward of Quine’s Corner, Douglas, was prosecuted for neglecting his pet.
Mr Ward was jailed for 14 weeks and ordered to pay £1,500 compensation to Ard Jerkyll where the West Highland Terrier was being looked after.
Snowy’s story is being used by the charity as it launches its Christmas appeal, asking for donations to provide care for the animals.
A spokesman said: ’Unlike Snowy, almost 250 animals will continue to stay at the ManxSPCA shelter.’
