Isle of Man Motor Museum is looking for volunteers to join its close-knit team for the summer season which begins in April.

Based at a specially designed premises on the former RAF Jurby site, the museum is a privately funded exhibition of more than 500 vehicles.

These include unique one-offs and prototypes, celebrity and royalty cars, road and race-winning motorcycles amongst others.

It is run by father and son team Denis and Darren Cunningham, who have spent over 35 years assembling and lovingly restoring their collection of classic vehicles.

Thousands have flocked to explore the amazing stories behind the displays from around the globe, many of them rarely seen prior to the museum opening in May 2015.

Darren said: ’This is a very exciting time for all the team at the museum and we are keen to get more people involved.

’We are looking to expand our team of volunteers and there is plenty for them to get involved with, whether restoring cars, greeting visitors or helping with the organisation behind the scenes.

’Our team has a great time working and socialising together and it’s an ideal activity for petrol heads of any ages - young people looking to get experience or older people who are looking to fill their time with something they love in their retirement.’

Steve Glynn, a volunteer at the museum since March 2016, said: ’Volunteering has been a great opportunity to make new friends and meet some fantastic people.

’I have been involved in a number of projects both large and small. Volunteering can be as little as a couple of hours a week or full days. It really is a great way to spend my spare time.’
