St James Church in Dalby is holding a photo exhibition to celebrate re-opening after lockdown.
During the time the church’s doors were shut to the public, extensive restoration work was done on two of its windows and a wood-burning stove was fitted in the schoolroom.
Minister Cheryl Cousins said: ’It’s great for us to be up and running again.
’It felt very strange having the church closed for so long.
’To celebrate the occasion we’ve put together an exhibition of photographs taken last year.
’We invited everyone in the village to send us a couple of images of themselves; what life in Dalby is all about for them and what’s important to them about living here.
’It seemed a good time to stage this show now - a time to celebrate all the amazing people who make up this community and who were so supportive of one another in so many different ways during the lockdown.’
The exhibition is made up of approximately 150 images representing more than 40 families. Most are enlarged to A3 size and give an insight into the life of a community at a specific time.
There is no admission charge.
The church and schoolroom are open daily with home-made jams, cards, books and bric-a-brac for sale.
There’s also a plant stall with plants from local gardens, often fresh veggies for sale, as well as the permanent local history exhibition.
And, if that’s all too much for you,and you need a rest, there’s always the bunkhouse which can be booked for a staycation.
