Maughold’s annual pancake races were once again hotly-contested with toddlers, adults and all ages in between keen to take the top spots.
Entrants were encouraged to supply their own frying pans but supplied with the pancakes - rumoured to be of a sturdy construction to withstand the inevitable thrills and spills - to tackle the course from the village green up to the church hall.
Marshals were stationed at the designated pancake tossing points to ensure fair play.
The event, organised by Maughold Social Club, has been a key date in the community calendar for many years.
The club’s president, Marinda Faragher, described the event as a fun way to bring the community together.
She added: ’It may be a short course but it’s slightly uphill so it does test them.’
This turned out to be particulary true in the pre-school category, where the race turned into a family battle as they helped the tiring toddlers to reach the finish.
After the races, the church hall was the venue for freshly cooked pancakes, cooked up by Maughold Social Club members.
Marinda thanked all of the volunteers who made the event possible.
