Davison’s Ice Cream raised £7,500 towards a Manx cancer charity through the sale of its exclusive pink whippies.

The popular local business presented the amount to Manx Breast Cancer Support Group (MBCSG) after a year of selling the specially coloured ice cream.

Co-director Ian Davison said: ’Davison’s has supported Carole Male, for the last 30 years with her tireless efforts, raising money for local charities, mainly helping raise money, in the fight against cancer.

’When the Manx Breast Cancer Support Group was launched eight years ago, we became involved from the start, helping the team with their fund raising events.’

The team also raised funds towards MBCSG last year through an auction of items and Ian completed an Everest base camp walk in November, which raised another £1,800 towards the charity.

’Davison’s has always tried to support as many local charities as possible,’ he said.

’We feel its part of our companies social responsibility to give as much back to the island community as we can, the same community that buys our products and supports our business.

’As a company, Davison’s have and will continue to support local charities, both myself, son and co-director of Davison’s Greig and our team at Davison’s have lost family and friends through cancer, so it is important to help support the CT scanner appeal.

’We have recently also become involved with Mannin Cancers, and Derek Peters and his team, supporting men with cancer here on the island.

’All charities on the Isle of Man are struggling at this time and require support, so if you are able to support local charities, with fundraising please do, it is really rewarding.’

Vice chairman and fundraiser of MBCSG, Carole Male, said the charity it incredibly thankful for Davison’s efforts.

’They’re a terrific local company who’ve worked with us and been our constant supporters for many years and we’re very grateful to them for all they do for us and for patients in the Isle of Man!’ She said.
