The former Nightlife club in Market Place, Ramsey could be set for a new lease of life as a retail unit with flats above.

The nighyytclub shut its doors for the final time in 2016 when owner Heron and Brearley announced its closure at the same time as the Pinewood in Pulrose, which later re-opened under different management.

The application (19/00353/GB) submitted by S&A Consultants Ltd seeks to replacement the former dance floor with a shop on the ground floor and upgrade the upper floors to create five self-contained flats.

The application states that the building is ’in need of considerable renovation before any new use for the building can be found’.

The building has suffered water ingress in the upper floors and there are issues with the interior condition.

The work to the ground floor would see the existing main doors continued to be used as the entrance to a single ’large retail unit’ with staff facilities added to the south side of the building.

The section at the rear which links to Felton’s Ironmongers in Parliament Square would be retained for use by Felton’s.

The basement, formerly the beer cellar, would form part of the retail unit.

The first floor would see the creation of two flats, one with two bedrooms and the other with the potential for three with the inclusion of a small room which exists above the main door.

The second floor would see three flats built, each containing two bedrooms.

There is no dedicated parking for the store or the flats, however the applicant stated that there was a public car park for which residents permits could be issued.

The building was formerly the Saddle Hotel for a number of years, before becoming a wine retailer and eventually Nightlife in the late 1980s, closing for a year in the early 2010s it finally closed on Saturday, June 25, 2016.

As the property is on the list of registered buildings it is also subject to application 19/00355/CON.
