A planning application (19/00420/B) for the erection of a sculpture on a roundabout has been amended to include a three-metre-wide path and cycle path.

Eden Park Developments Ltd sought permission in April to erect the sculpture on the new large roundabout near the entrance to the Post Office and B&Q.

The highways department of the Department of Infrastructure had made objections to the application for reasons including visibility on the roundabout.

Under the amended plans, submitted last week, the application now includes a path/ cycle path that would run on the south side of the Cooil Road, near to Jacksons, before crossing over to join the pavement on the north side just after the roundabout approaching Fort North.

The cycle path would form part of a network of paths for the island’s active travel strategy.
