EFB (IOM) Limited has applied to planners to further extend the approval to develop a site at Ballafletcher, in Douglas.
The company was given approval at appeal in 2015 to create a mixed leisure and industrial development on a site in Ballafletcher Road.
A petition of doleance was made against the decision meaning that approval was finally confirmed in December 2016.
The proposals included a 1,400 sq/m warehouse, entertainment centre including a 12-lane bowling alley and children’s adventure play area, win retailer, a restaurant/ pub with 150 covers, a motel and a fun barn.
In a planning officer’s statement in 2015 it said the company wanted to work with the government to ensure that there was no conflict in demand.
In their latest application (17/00936/B) they have applied to extend the approval by two years.
In a statement from Endless Design, it explains states that since approval was granted EFB has ’heavily invested’ in retail and leisure outlets, with the Hooded Ram bar and shop and the Gali Kitchen restaurant. It is also now the majority shareholder in the Hooded Ram Brewery.
The statement continues: ’The applicant wishes for the operation feedback and island specific market research associated with these outlets to inform the design details for this development.
’Understandably, due to the infancy of these outlets the applicant is only now receiving meaningful information.’
It adds: ’The applicant wishes to reiterate their commitment to the proposal for the Ballafletcher site; the request for an extension of time is based on the desire to ensure that the delivered scheme is of the highest quality in terms of design and implementation.’
