Property developer Hartford Homes is seeking to build 11 new homes on the outskirts of Douglas.

The company has submitted the application (20/00824/B) for land to the rear of Bix House, Farmhill Lane, Douglas.

If backed by planners, Hartford would remove up to 100 trees which were planted in the 1980s but are not listed as woodland.

The 11 homes would include nine four and five bed homes and two affordable homes with two bedrooms each, all properties would have off-road parking and private gardens.

A footpath is included in the plans to link the proposed development with the Lheannag Park Estate and Ballaughton Park and the remaining woodland will remain as open space both for the community and to promote wildlife.

Following discussions with Douglas Council, the company will agree to pay a commuted sum rather than add a small play area in the development.
