An application has been made to alter planning approval given to the site on Peel Road where KFC and Starbucks are due to open drive through stores.

If approved, the unit would be utilised as one complete restaurant, as opposed to the previous plan of two separate retail outlets and would require modifications being made to the approved parking plans for the site.

The application (20/01174/B) has been submitted by V&V Foods and Hospitality Ltd, which already operates an Indian restaurant, Vellika’s on Bowring Road in Ramsey. In November 2019, permission was granted by planners for the KFC and Starbucks restaurants to be built on the former Eurocars garage site on Peel Road, Douglas.

Once open, KFC will operate with opening hours of 11am to 11pm and Starbucks from 6am to 10pm, both for seven days a week.

The application was not without controversy. It was more than a year before it was brought before the committee to make a decision on and many respondents wrote in to support and object to the plans.
