A planning application has been submitted (21/01199/B) to turn a former shop on Duke Street, Douglas, into a takeaway serving hot food.

Only the ground floor would be used, and the alterations made would include the installation of an air intake and ventilation flue at the rear of the building.

The site previously housed the now-defunct Money Express shop, and it is this former shopfloor area which is being converted.

The takeaway’s proposed opening hours would be from 8am until 12am midnight.

l In other planning news, there is an application (21/01225/B) for permission to convert and extend an outbuilding at Ballachrink Mooar Farm in Glen Maye for use as tourist accommodation.

The empty building was previously used for storage.

A kitchen, two bedrooms, a living area, bathroom and en-suite bathroom would be built in under the plans.
