Foraging Vintners Winery is once again hoping to use the Cosy Nook as an outdoor drinks venue this summer and in the future.

The business used the Port Erin beachfront site last summer, setting up a marquee on its concrete hard-standing area and styling it as ’Playa del Vintners Beach Bar’.

Foraging Vinters, which is based across the bay, has submitted the planning application [21/00352/B] to allow it to use the site to set up another temporary marquee and decking, and sell food and drink between May 5 and October 15 up until 2023 - being open subject to good weather. The Cosy Nook, which was added to the island’s protected buildings register last month, has not seen any use since Foraging Vintners occupied the site last summer.

The building’s registration scuppered Port Erin Commissioners’ plans to demolish it and replace it with an Art-Deco-style building.
