The former Trafalgar pub on Douglas’ South Quay could be redeveloped as a mixed use building featuring 37 flats.

The pub, which has been closed for a number of years, is part of a block of buildings on the quayside which developers want to turn into retail, gym and accommodation space.

The application (18/01342/B) has been submitted by South Quay Commercial Ltd, which is based at 42a Duke Street. Nicola Bowker is listed as its nominated officer and Stefan Hobl and Nicholas Preskey as directors.

Under the proposal, 31-39 South Quay would be demolished from the Trafalgar pub along to warehouse unit number 39, formerly Premier Motors.

If permission is granted, the block would be replaced by a seven storey building including a basement car park.

The building will, according to plans, be divided into two sections, one will contain a retail unit on the ground floor, with office spaces and a gym for both private and residents use above it.

A wine bar with roof terrace is also planned for the top floor.

The other half of the building will comprise of 37 apartments.

This will consist of four, two-bed-flats on the ground floor, while on floors one to five there will be four two-bedroom flats and one, one-bedroom flat.

While the top floor will be made up of three ’penthouse’ flats each with three bedrooms.

All flats above the ground floor are shown as having a private balcony except for the single bedroom flats on floors one to five.

Part of the site already has approval in principle (16/01013/A) for it to be converted into a residential property.

The Trafalgar closed its doors to pub customers for the final time in February 2010.
