Ballacregga Farm is applying for planning permission (21/01405/B) to create a planting ’corridor’ of trees around the perimeter of its land.

The farm, which is situated just south of Port Soderick, wants to plant 4,408 trees to create a new 14.4-acre ’shelterbelt’.

The planting will be done in conjunction with DEFA.

Manx Wildlife Trust, which conducted the environmental impact assessment of the plans, recommended that it go ahead.

Livestock will then be reintroduced into the area. There will be a wide mix of species, including sycamores, willows, maples, birches, hazels, hawthorns and scotch pines.
