The Department of Health and Social Care has submitted detailed plans for the redevelopment of Cummal Mooar residential home on the site of Cooil ny Marrey sheltered housing complex, Waterloo Road, Ramsey.

The scheme comprises demolition of the existing Cooil ny Marrey complex (whose residents have been re-homed in the new Mayfield Apartments on Queen’s Pier Road) and redevelopment of the site to provide a three storey, 45-bedroom residential care home and day care unit to accommodate up to 20 people.
Cooil ny Marrey was built by Ramsey and Northern Districts Housing Committee in 1981 and comprised 55 one-bedroom sheltered flats. The building is structurally sound but outdated and deemed no longer fit for purpose.
Ownership would be transferred from the joint local authorities to the DHSC.
