The Woodland Trust is holding sessions for the public to plant trees across the island.
The charity creates new woodland in the Isle of Man using predominantly Manx species while also maintaining, enhancing and protecting existing woodland.
Its first session, which was held on Sunday, October 3, saw 25 people help out.
The volunteers with the charity met in Andreas at the weekend for a planting session at The Lhen.
Approximately 310 saplings were planted during the session.
Falk Horning, chairperson for the charity, said: ’It is always encouraging to see so many people, especially when it is many first-timers.
At our last event around half of the people were new.
’We noticed more public support and many people signed up for tree plantings at the Elm tree protests.
’The sessions are open to the public. On our website and Facebook page the plantings are usually advertised a couple of days in advance.’
The next Sunday sessions will be held in Maughold on October 10, 17 and 24, followed by St Jude’s on October 31.
After this, the charity will plant trees in Foxdale on November 7 and then they will go to Sulby Glen on November 14, 21 and 28.
