A new collection of imaginative and original folk music, designed to encourage others to play along with, has been released.
’Kiaull Cooyl’ is an inventive project that features a collection of eight different backing tracks, composed and recorded by local musician David Kilgallon and Rory Murphy and is intended to be used for musicians to play along and jam with at home.
The music can be downloaded for free and is also designed to be used as backing tracks for live performances, or incorporated into not-for-profit recordings.
’There are funky jigs and reels that may appeal more to instrumentalists, alongside reggae vibes and contemplative film-like soundscapes that singers might feel inspired to write lyrics to,’ said Manx music officer Chloe Woolley, from Culture Vannin, who supported the recordings as part of its Treisht 2020 project.
’The magical thing about these tracks is that they are there purely to inspire musical expression. We can’t wait to hear what creatives come up with.’
