Fly tipping at Port St Mary town hall car park has been reported to the police.

Rubbish has been dumped by the recycling bins recently prompting the local authority to issue a plea for residents to keep the village tidy.

A post on Port St Mary C Commissioners Facebook page states: ’We have the information required to identify them and have passed it onto the police requesting action is taken. We are awaiting the arrival of additional glass and can recycling bins from the Department of Infrastructure, however in the meantime please do not fly tip as it will not be tolerated.

’We are working hard to keep our beautiful village tidy and we respectfully request that others do too.’

Commissioners’ chairman Michelle Haywood said identifying the offender did not require great investigative skills as their name and address were in the items left, plus CCTV covers the area.

She added: ’Nobody should dump rubbish in the town hall car park.’
