Police are appealing for witnesses and information after significant damage was caused to an upland track in the Isle of Man’s Glion Gill plantation.

The damage occurred sometime between May 5 and 16.

Gate closing posts of three large locked gates were smashed and fencing was damaged on the track.

Constable Mark Kerruish, the wildlife crime officer, said that it looked as though a four-wheel drive vehicle had been used to pull the gate posts over, and it would appear to have entered the track from the Brandywell Road access.

This area which is owned by the government and is popular with walkers and in particular mountain bikers due to it being part of the annual End to End Mountain Bike event.

This area has been subjected to similar acts of damage on three occasions over the past five years.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Ramsey police station on 812234 or the Department of the Environment, Food and Agriculture (forestry Amenity & Lands) on 801263.
