Police seized cocaine and cannabis worth £100,000 concealed in a vehicle stopped at Douglas port.

Following a joint police and Customs operation yesterday evening (Thursday) a 35-year-old Liverpool man was arrested as he disembarked the sailing.

Police described the seizure of a large quantity of class ‘A’ and ‘B’ controlled drugs concealed within the vehicle as ’significant’.

Detective Inspector Juan Kinley said: ’We will continued to deal with those who attempt to import illegal drugs into the island from the UK.

’This is a significant seizure and the removal of these illegal and dangerous drugs from the streets of the Island continues to make the island a safe place.

’Criminal gangs involved in these activities should be under no illusion that we will pursue and arrest anyone suspected of involvement in this criminality.’

A man pleaded guilty to a number of drug trafficking offences involving Class ‘A’ and Class ‘B’ controlled drugs when he appeared in court earlier today.

He was remanded in custody at the Isle of Man Prison.
