The police have warning about a bogus social media post that purports to be from the force.

Officers say that a post with a picture of a young girl with a red bow has the caption Isle of Man: Concerns growing for 7-year-old girl missing for 24 hours as police issue...

A police spokesman said 'It is not a genuine missing person on the Isle of Man and we would discourage anyone from clicking on the link or sharing it.

;Most modern browsers already highlight that it is a scam site.

'We rely on the Manx public to help us when it comes to searching for missing and vulnerable people and we'd hate for a truly missing person to be overshadowed by this.'
