A new survey among government workers will take place later this year.
Policy and Reform Minister Chris Thomas confirmed the next Have Your Say survey will be held in October.
He also admitted previous surveys had found ’quite profound’ negatives.
In the House of Keys on Tuesday, Julie Edge (LibVannin, Onchan) asked for the outcome of the previous two such surveys.
Mr Thomas said: ’There have been a range of central and departmental activities designed to act on the information provided in the survey, all of which ultimately improve working practice and culture across the public service.
’Cabinet Office officers have worked with chief officers and other colleagues to develop a vision and set of values or guiding principles for government, to introduce a new corporate induction programme, to implement a leadership qualities framework and appraisal system, and they continue to host a series of chief officer roadshows.
’Departmentally, there have been over 100 separate initiatives that have been developed following the surveys.’
These included staff development programmes and team events.
Asked if more information could be made available from the previous surveys, Mr Thomas agreed it could be helpful.
He said highlights included that ’people did seem to know what was expected of them and that people were committed to delivering a satisfactory customer service and to working beyond what was required in their jobs’.
But, he added: ’Negatives were quite profound. Only 11 per cent of people thought that departments worked well together across the government. Only 22 per cent thought that the IoM Government encouraged a new or better way of doing things.’
