MHKs Tim Baker and Bill Shimmins travel to Malta next week to attend a Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) small branches sustainable economic development workshop in Valletta.

Mr Baker and Mr Shimmins were nominated by the Isle of Man branch of the CPA as participants in the event, which follows on from a small branches committee workshop held in the Isle of Man in August 2015. Mr Baker is also participating in his capacity as a member of the Department of Environment, Food and Agriculture.

Hosted by the parliament of Malta, the workshop is being delivered as a select committee inquiry, with the deputy clerk of Tynwald, Jonathan King, serving as clerk to the committee, after being selected for the role by the CPA HQ secretariat.

The workshop is designed to help parliamentarians in their role of enacting and supporting policies administered by their respective parliaments.
