An MHK wants to know how many successful prosecutions there have been in the past five years for sexual assault.

Rob Callister (Onchan) has tabled a series of written questions for the Department of Home Affairs in the House of Keys today (Tuesday), asking how many sexual assault cases were reported in each of the past five years, how many led to successful convictions and how the offence rates and conviction rates compare with neighbouring jurisdictions.

Mr Callister will also seek an outline of the current procedures for gaining samples for sexual assault victims, broken down into categories of male, female and under 18s.

In another question, he will request an update on the progress of the working party exploring gaps in the forensic examination service provision for sexual assault victims.
