MHK Claire Christian is to stand for again in September’s general election.

She will contest the seat in Douglas South she has held for the last seven months.

In the by-election in August, Mrs Christian received 930 votes, making up 52% of the 1,789 ballot papers for one of the two available seats against nine other candidates.

Mrs Christian said she would continue her work ’to maintain and protect accessible local primary healthcare, to champion innovative ideas to improve community education, and develop a fair and affordable housing strategy’.

She currently holds two departmental memberships in the Department of Education, Sport and Culture and the Departmet of Infrastructure.

This year’s general election, when every House of Keys seat is up for grabs, is to be held on September 23.
