Onchan Commissioners have paid tribute to a former community leader who died recently.
Robert Patrick Goodby was a member and chairman of Onchan Parish Commissioners before it amalgamated with the village commissioners on April 1 1986.
Mr Goodby became a parish commissioner in 1982 and served as chairman in 1984/85. He retired as a member of the newly-formed local authority in May 1986.
The current board marked Mr Goodby’s death with a minute’s silence at the start of this week’s meeting.
A spokesman for Onchan Commissioners said: ’On behalf of the chairman, members and staff of the commissioners, we wish to offer sincere condolences and sympathy to Mr Goodby’s family and friends.’
Mr Goodby’s funeral was held on Wednesday, January 22, at St Peter’s Church, Onchan.
