Residents will see a rise in the amount they’re paying.
Douglas Borough Council yesterday announced the rates would increase by 2.7% to 419p in the pound.
Council leader David Christian presented the budget and his review of the previous year.
The announcement came shortly after Braddan Commissioners had announced they will freeze their rates at 200p in the pound for the 2018-19 financial year.
A statement said: ’Chairman Andrew Jessopp advised that the authority expects to benefit in the coming year from an increased rate income, due to a number of office and other developments being completed during the financial year.’
So far this year it has been announced by the following authorities:
Onchan and Malew will also remain the same at 312p and 175p in the pound respectively, Peel will see no increase in rates, however the separate refuse charge has risen by £4 to £174 per household.
Arbory will rise 2.56% to 120p in the pound, Port Erin 4.6% to 320p and Port St Mary will rise 5.2% to 331p.
Castletown residents so far face the highest increase on the island up 6.56% or 21p to 314p in the pound.
