A fifth nominee for Legislative Council has been put forward.

Craig Brown is a former board member at Isle of Man Finance Agency and a former managing director at IQ-EQ.

He was nominated by Minister for Treasury David Ashford.

Mr Ashford said in his nomination: ’Craig brings with him a wide variety of private sector and lifetime experience and I believe would be an absolute asset to the role of a Legislative Council member.’

Mr Brown described himself in his statement as a ’strategic thinker’ with ’extensive leadership and commercial expertise’.

He joins four other previous nominees, including former Middle MHK Bill Shimmins, author Paul Craine, former chartered quantity surveyor Corelli Bentham and private secretary to the Lieutenant Governor Diane Kelsey.

They are all in competition for two vacant seats on the Legislative Council after the election of Kate Lord-Brennan and Jane Poole-Wilson into the House of Keys.

Nominations have to be in by November 4 in time for the election which is on November 23.
