The Manx government has launched a new website and guide to help us all prepare for Brexit.
It comes as Westminster was forced to release details of Operation Yellowhammer which confirmed the Crown Dependencies may be affected by supply chain disruption in the event of a no-deal crash-out of the EU.
There is still no certainty, following dramatic events last week in the House of Commons and the courts in London and Edinburgh, over what shape Brexit will take - or even whether it will now happen at all.
But Chief Minister Howard Quayle told reporters: ’We’ve got to plan for the worst case scenario.’
The guide, which went live on Monday, has three main themes - people, business and travel. There are sections dealing with healthcare, utilities, food, law and order and sending and receiving parcels.
It essentially pulls together, and updates, information published in March.
Mr Quayle said: ’We want to ensure that everyone has the information they need to get ready for Brexit. Some people won’t have to take action at all.’
He said the situation was still unclear. Although the risk of a no-deal ’crash out’ on October 31 was reducing, there was no guarantee that the EU would grant a further extension.
The guide points out the direct and immediate impact of a no-deal Brexit will be less significant here as we are not a member of the EU, and most of our trade and transport links are with the UK.
Primarily the impact will be felt by those who make and sell goods or agricultural products and EU citizens from outside the UK and Ireland who will have to apply for settled status. Find the guide at gov.im/brexit or #islebeready
