Health chiefs have no data on how many emergency admissions at Noble’s Hospital are drug- or alcohol-related.
David Ashford (Douglas North) had sought details on the figures and what percentage they formed of the overall admissions to A&E.
In a written Tynwald response, Health Minister Kate Beecroft admitted: ’Unfortunately, at present no data on admissions to the A&E department as a result of alcohol-related incidents is routinely collected in the A&E department.
’This gap has been noted in the Drug and Alcohol Joint Strategic Needs Assessment (JSNA) with the recommendation that this should be collected in a routine standard format in future.
’This is likely to be taken forward in the drug and alcohol strategy and, assuming it is, Noble’s Hospital will be working with colleagues from Public Health to set this up as a key part of the Noble’s core dataset and reporting.’
