The police are responsible for carrying out checks on individuals who are required to isolate under the Emergency Powers Act.

Home Affairs Ministers Graham Cregeen said that officers carry out the checks, both on returning residents and those told to isolate after instructions from the Covid 111 hotline.

He said that officers can check that someone is isolating at home by email, phone call or doorstep checks, but the same people are not checked every day.

As the number of people returning to the island is set to increase with the introduction of a second repatriation sailing from next week, this will be shared with the Cabinet Office moving forward.

Mr Cregeen was answering questions in Tynwald in response to questions from Jason Moorhouse (Arbory, Castletown and Malew).
