ITV is to provide support information for victims of crimes after its Best Little Prison in Britain? programme following a request from an MHK.

Jason Moorhouse (Arbory, Castletown and Malew) contacted the broadcaster to ask for the information to be provided for victims of crimes perpetrated by convicts shown on the series.

Mr Moorhouse said he was disappointed by the government’s ’lack of support for such calls’ but was pleased that ITV had agreed to provide the details.

An ITV statement reads: ’Taking into account all the points you raise, we accept that it would be helpful to direct viewers to ITV’s advice page for support information where details of Victim Support UK will be available.

’This will be done at the end of the final programme in the series on September 4.’

As the Examiner reported last week, Mr Moorhouse lodged 19 questions about the programme for Tynwald answer.

He questioned whether the programme could be pulled.

The light-hearted fly-on-the-wall documentary is narrated by comedian and author Stephen Fry.

It has been criticised in the Isle of Man for portraying some hardened criminals as lovable rogues.
