Solicitor Jane Poole-Wilson has been elected to Legislative Council, the Manx parliament’s upper house.

Mrs Poole-Wilson was nominated by Garff MHK Daphne Caine and seconded by Middle member Bill Shimmins.

She attracted 14 votes - a straightforward majority of those present and voting (24).

She replaces Tony Wild, who stood down on grounds of ill health, and will serve until February 2018.

Alan Wright was second with six votes, just ahead of Paul Beckett on five.
