Liberal Vannin Party leaders have posted a package of kippers to new Prime Minister Boris Johnson.
Mr Johnson raised the issue of kipper exports during his election hustings - but his claim about EU regulations being to blame for new packaging requirements was swiftly rejected as red herring.
In fact, he need for each kippers to be accompanied by a plastic ice pillow was not, as Boris claimed, an EU rule, but a British and Isle of Man one.
LibVan welcomed his reference to the Manx kippers during his final hustings - and posted off 6.6lbs of kippers as a thank you gift.
Party chairman Michael Josem tweeted: ’You said you cared about the Manx kipper industry and the plight of small businesses in these isles.
’We’ve just posted you 6.6lbs of kippers to make sure you don’t forget!’
In a letter sent with the kippers, Mr Josem and LibVan leader Kate Beecroft MHK congratulated Mr Johnson on his election as Tory leader.
They said they wanted the gift of the kippers to serve as a reminder of the long and close relationship between the UK and the Isle of Man - and hoped that Mr Johnson would keep the interests of the island close to his heart during his time at PM.
