Members of the House of Keys have nine candidates from whom to choose when they select new members for the Legislative Council today.

They will choose four new lawmakers from Michael commissioner and businesswoman Carol Lillywhite, healthcare professional Danielle Bell, Port St Mary commissioner Dr Michelle Haywood, medical researcher Haafizah Hoosen, e-gaming businessman Peter Greenhill, IT professional Robert Mercer, economist at the Office of Fair Trading Zahed Miah and sitting MLCs Kerry Sharpe and Bill Henderson.

Members of Legislative Council are not elected by the public but they vote on laws and Tynwald policies.

Some of the candidates answered questions from the public at a meeting earlier this week. To see what they said, see today’s Manx Independent, which is in shops now.
