Local authority employee Jamie Horton is the new face on the board of Castletown Commissioners after winning Thursday’s by-election.

Mr Horton, 46, topped the polled with 408 votes. He will serve on the board until April 2020.

Turn-out was 33 per cent.

Jamie Horton, 46, who works for Port Erin Commisioners, has lived all his life in Castletown. He is a local DJ and his partner Ellen Corkish runs the Bowling Green Cafe in Castletown.

Former police officer Julie Bareham came second in the by-election with 284 votes while civil servant Pamela Rice picked up 64 votes.

The by-election was held after former commissioner James Barrow stood down earlier this year.
