Mr Allen, who previously stood in Onchan in 2016, said he is standing ’because the people of Douglas South and the Isle of Man need someone who has both business and local government experience, who can hit the floor of Tynwald running with a track record of helping people, adding value and getting real results’.
He added: ’The challenges we are all facing for the Economy, Education, Health and Social Care are unprecedented for our family’s survival and future prosperity.
’The amount of money in your pocket is less and costs are going up. In this frightening period of a pandemic crisis, we have not reached the "new normal", further government support and investment will be needed to aid the island’s recovery.’
Mr Allen brings the number of people to have announced their candidature to 11, following Andrew Jessopp, Pamela-Birnie Malarkey, Ian James Clanton, Marc Clarke, Claire Christian, David Fowler, Michael Josem, Kevin Oliphant-Smith, Lon Pinkerton and Paul Quine.
