Nearly 700 food products now have the Isle of Man-made seal of approval.

The government launched its Isle of Man provenance label in 2016 to show where produce was grown reared, caught and/or processed in the Isle of Man and/or contained mostly Manx ingredients.

Environment, Food and Agriculture Minister Geoffrey Boot said: ’Currently there are 30 producers within the product of Isle of Man category and 18 producers within the made in Isle of Man category.

’There are currently 698 products in the categories mentioned.’

Mr Boot, who was responding to House of Keys questions from Jason Moorhouse (Arbory, Castletown and Malew), added: ’New businesses have the option of receiving the provenance label as stickers directly from the department once their application has been authorised.

’Over the last year we have allocated over 20,000 stickers to businesses, with a number of businesses also adding the provenance label to their packaging in their own right.’
