The Commonwealth Parliamentary Association is offering young people in the island an opportunity to showcase their artistic skills by entering ’The Youth Creativity’ competition to commemorate the CPA’s 110th anniversary.

The competition challenges young people in three age categories - up to 11, 12 to 14 and 15 to 18 - to interpret the question: ’What will parliaments look like in the next 110 years?’

It could be answered from written word to video, animation or artwork. All submissions must be provided electronically.

The winners and runners-up in each category will receive a certificate and the category winners will win £100 of book/gift vouchers.

Chairman of the Isle of Man branch of the CPA and Speaker of the House of Keys Juan Watterson said: ’Youth engagement and educational outreach are central to the work of the CPA in raising young people’s awareness of the democratic process.

’This competition is a great opportunity to connect young people with parliament in an imaginative way that not only has the power to showcase our island’s wealth of young creative talent but also provides a means for Manx youth to contribute to a milestone in the history of the CPA.’

The Youth Creativity competition launches on Sunday the official date of the CPA’s 110th anniversary and will close on September 10.
