Seven petitions were handed in at the Tynwald Day ceremony today calling for the parliament to act to change what campaigners believe is a grievance.
Among those, Gavin Organ from Douglas, said that the Isle of Man should look at allowing cannabis to be used for pain relief.
A dispute over a car park on a beach led to Port St Mary Commissioners petitioning in a first for local authorities.
The subjects of other petitioners included the application of the Children and Young Persons Act, complaints to official bodies, water rates, the creation of a criminal cases review commission and conservation work.
The full story, with comments from the petitioners, which will appear in tomorrow’s Manx Independent.
