There are now six nominations for the 2018 election of the Legislative Council.

There will be five vacancies this year rather the expected four given David Anderson’s decision to step down two years early.

As such four of the seats are for a five-year term ending in February 2023 and the other a two-year term ending in February 2020.

The four members who’s term is ending are Michael Coleman, Geoff Corkish, Juan Turner and Jane Poole-Wilson who replaced Tony Wild 2017.

Mrs Poole-Wilson is so far the only member who is standing again, she was nominated by Mrs Daphne Caine MHK, seconded by Mr Bill Shimmins with Chief Minister Howard Quayle MHK and Mr Martyn Perkins MHK her supporters.

Former Douglas Mayor John Skinner has been nominated by DHSC minister David Ashford MHK, seconded by Mrs Ann Corlett MHK with DoI minister Ray Harmer MHK and Mr Tim Baker MHK as his supporters.

Ms Dawn Joughin has been nominated by Julie Edge MHK seconded by Dr Alex Allinson MHK with Miss Clare Bettison MHK and Mrs Ann Corlett MHK her supporters.
