The Manx government is appointing more press officers.

Three posts are being advertised by the Cabinet Office, all on one-year short term contracts.

The Corporate Communications Team, described as ’forward-thinking’, is seeking a communications assistant, with the successful applicant receiving a salary of £20,717 to £25,574.

A communications officer is also been sought.

Employed at executive officer grade, they will be paid between £27,997 and £32,887 a year.

Finally, there is a vacancy for a communications executive, a higher executive officer post that will attract a salary of between £35,537 and £41,507 a year.

Closing date for applications is September 17 and 18.

There have been recent changes at the media centre which had comprised a head of communications, three communications executives and one communications officer.

One of the executives has secured a new role in the Cabinet Office as head of Crown and Elections, and the communications officer promoted to the role of executive.

The advertisement for the role of communication executive states: ’The Corporate Communications Service is a dynamic, dedicated team of professional communicators working at the heart of government, serving all of government.

’Our aim is to provide effective communications that will shape government’s relationship with the public and media as well as international perceptions of the island.

’We are committed to government’s principles of open, transparent and clear communications in the interest of public accountability.

’The main purpose of the communications executive post is to protect, nurture and enhance the reputation of the assigned departments.’
