The number out of work in the island rose last month.

Unemployment increased by 12 in October and was seven higher than the same month last year.

A total of 124 people signed onto the unemployment register during the month and 112 signed off.

The unemployment rate, the proportion of the economically active population registered out of work, is 0.8%, an increase of 0.1% on September.

During the month 790 job vacancies were notified to the Job Centre.

At the end of the month, 664 remained, of which 57% (377) were full time and 43% (287) part time.
