The voters of Douglas South will have a wide choice candidates when they go to the polls on Thursday, August 27.
Both seats in the constituency are up for grabs after the death of Home Affairs Ministers Bill Malarkey and retirement of Liberal Vannin leader Kate Costain.
When the nomination process closed at 1pm on Wednesday, it was confirmed 10 people will be asking the electorate for their vote.
In alphabetical order, the candidates, who unless stated are standing as independents, are:
â?¢ Anthony Allen
â?¢ Pamela Birnie-Malarkey
â?¢ Claire Christian
â?¢ Ian-James Clanton
â?¢ David Fowler
â?¢ Andrew Jessop (Isle of Man Green Party)
â?¢ Michael Josem (Liberal Vannin)
â?¢ Lon Pinkerton
â?¢ Kevin Oliphant-Smith
â?¢ Stephen Quine
Marc Clarke had been due to stand for the Manx Labour Party but he withdrew on Wednesday citing ’personal reasons’.
When Mr Malarkey and Miss Costain won their seats in 2016, the constituency had only a 40% turn out with 1,808 votes cast out of an electorate of 4,496.
Whoever the winning candidates are this time around, they will not have long to make their mark on Tynwald with a general election due to be held in September 2021.
Ahead of an election, it is normal practice for a requisition meeting to be held, this is usually triggered by constituents writing or writing a letter to the Captain of the Parish.
In the case of Douglas South, and indeed other seats in the capital, a meeting would be called if 12 constituents write to the Mayor of Douglas, Jon Joughin.
Isle of Man Newspapers will also be speaking to each candidate ahead of the election.
