Manx residents will soon be free to travel to and from the UK and beyond.

Chief Minister Howard Quayle revealed at a press briefing today that the Council of Ministers had unanimously agreed we can move to the next stage of a phased border reopening.

The move came as the island recorded a landmark 50th day without a new case of coronavirus.

Island residents will be able to travel across from Monday, July 20, but must quarantine at home on their return for 14 days.

’After careful consideration we decided unanimously that we are now ready to make this significant step,’ Mr Quayle said.

But he said the 14-day quarantine on return was an essential condition of travel - ’no ifs or buts’.

The traveller will receive a self-isolation order which will make it clear that home quarantine is a legal agreement.

Failure to comply could result in prosecution punishable with a fine or imprisonment.

Other members of the household will not need to self-isolate.
