It’s good to be kind - that’s the message from Chief Minister Howard Quayle.

In the House of Keys this week, Jason Moorhouse (Arbory, Castletown and Malew) asked Mr Quayle what the government was doing to mark World Kindness Day, which is next Tuesday.

Mr Quayle said there were no ’specific actions’ planned.

But he added: ’This does not mean that I am not a supporter of treating one another with kindness.

’I am sure everyone will agree that in the increasingly challenging world we are facing, acting with kindness and compassion to one another is to be supported and celebrated.’

The Chief Minister, who in recent weeks has had several angry exchanges with Liberal Vannin leader Kate Beecroft, continued: ’The benefits of acting with kindness to one another - honourable members included - are proven.

’Kindness is also linked positively to mental health, which is something Members will know that I am passionately committed to improving.’
