The Port Erin coastguard have said a decision on if the beach can be opened will be announced later today.

The beach has been closed below the high water mark since Saturday when a substance, understood to be diesel was found in the water.

As the covering is described as a ’light film’ it was hoped the beach would be open yesterday, however the beach remained closed following inspections.

A decision is due to be announced at 1.30pm.
