Flared trousers, wigs and clashing, coloured patterns were out as part of Port Erin Co-op’s efforts to raise cash towards the NHS.
A total of £890 was raised towards the island’s NHS by about 10 staff members who looked the part at their 70 and 80s themed fundraiser.
The amount was raised over three days by selling raffle tickets to customers.
Store manager Jeff Moore said: ’Because of the crisis of coronavirus we have been seeing lots of people helping the NHS and thought we would do a charity event towards it too.’
The theme was picked for its fun approach and ’to put a smile on people’s faces. ’We are very grateful to the public,’ he said.
’A lot of customers didn’t have cash when they came in for their shop because of coronavirus, but came back the next day to give donations.’
He added that he was very proud of his staff.
